Hannibal was a little town we decided to stop and eat lunch in on our way to Nauvoo. It ended up being the highlight of the day, because by the time we made it to Nauvoo we were in a torrential rain storm and most things had shut down. Hannibal was Mark Twain's birthplace, situated right along the Mississippi river. It was a quaint little town with old shops and restaurants. Mari and I found a shop filled with freshly made popcorn...our favorite! We walked among the different elementary school field trip groups visiting Mark Twain's home and shot wacky pictures and looked for mom, who was happily engaged in commerce. All in all a wonderful afternoon in Hannibal!
